Alan Wilson

Alan Wilson graduated from Shorter University with a communications degree in 1976.  His coaching career began when he took a job as head basketball coach at Colonial Hills High School where he captured a state title in 1996.  During his 10-year tenure at Colonial Hills, Wilson also coached the baseball team and served as the school’s athletic director.

Wilson is celebrating 21 years of service at Point University since 1996,  He first accepted the position of women’s basketball coach and baseball coach at Point University.  He built both programs steadily in his years with Point. As the women’s basketball coach, he produced four NCCAA All-American Award winners, won a South Region title (2006) and his teams appeared in two NCCAA national tournaments.


He was also named South Region Coach of the Year three times and NCCAA National Coach of the Year in 2006. Wilson also served as the women’s basketball South Region Chair from 1999-2006.

Wilson served as baseball coach at Point University until 2006.  As baseball coach, he took his team to the national tournament eight times, where they finished as national runner-up three times.  He was named South Region Coach of the Year four times and clinched three South Region Championships (2000, 2002 and 2006).  Wilson also produced numerous NCCAA All-American Award winners for the baseball program.

As men’s basketball coach, Coach Wilson has won two South Region titles (2008 and 2011) and has taken his team to the national tournament in back-to-back seasons (2009 and 2010). He has produced three All-Americans and was awarded South Region Coach of the Year in four of his six years as men’s basketball coach.

Wilson also has served as Athletic Director at Point University since 2010.  Under his leadership, the athletic program won numerous NCCAA II region titles and a National Championship in 2010.
