Marquis "Keke" Hicks was hired as an assistant coach for the Point University men's basketball team on June 24, 2016.

Hicks comes to Point with several years of coaching experience and a stellar collegiate and professional playing career.  The Atlanta native most recently served as assistant varsity basketball coach and history teacher at Meadowcreek High School in Norcross, Ga.  Prior to his time at Meadowcreek, Hicks spent three seasons on staff with the men's basketball team at NCAA Division I Georgia Tech.

Before starting at Georgia Tech, Hicks spent 10 years as an AAU program director and coach for 16 and 17 year-olds in Atlanta while also developing his own personal training business named "Kekehicks 24/7".

Hicks began his collegiate playing career at University of Oklahoma in 1990, before transferring to Coastal Carolina for his final three years. Hicks was a standout performer at Coastal, finishing his career as the school's third all-time leading scorer. He averaged 18.7 points per game in his first season with Coastal and helped lead the Chanticleer's to an appearance in the 1993 NCAA Tournament, where they faced off against Michigan's famed "Fab Five" in the first round. Hicks was then named Big South First Team All-Conference and Player of the Year Runner Up in both his junior and senior seasons, averaging over 21 points per game each year.

Following his career at Coastal Carolina, Hicks played professionally in Hamburg, Germany from 1995 through 1999. He also spent one season playing in Madrid, Spain and another playing in Ukraine.

Hicks attended high school at Frederick Douglas High School in Atlanta, where he became the school's all-time leading scorer and was a two-time All-State peformer.

In 2014, Hicks graduated from Colorado State University-Global with a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Social Science.
