WEST POINT, Ga. – Men’s lacrosse attacker Najarri Whitehead (SR/Decatur, GA) has been named this week’s Point University Athlete of the Week.

 

A senior, Whitehead has been a member of the Point men’s lacrosse team for four years and graduates May, 2017 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and will continue his education at Asbury Theological Seminary this upcoming fall.  Off the field and in the classroom, Whitehead has been active in many student organizations and community service projects and was named to the 2017 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete Team, an honor reserved for student athletes of junior standing or higher who have maintained a GPA of 3.5 or higher based on a 4.0 scale. 

 

On the field this season, Whitehead played in each of the Skyhawk’s 13 games and tied teammate Chase Parker (FR/Lawrenceville, GA) for the second most goals (28), finished third in total points (37), fourth in assists (9), and fifth in ground balls (24).

 

This was the first year that Point made it to the AAC Championships and Whitehead, along with seniors Greg Wilson (Augusta, GA) and Kalen Newsome (Vallejo, CA) propelled the Skyhawks to the conference championship game against Reinhardt University, the first championship game in program history.
