WEST POINT, Ga. – Point University centerfielder Amber Anderson (SR/Hazel Green, AL) is Point University's Athlete of the Week and was named Appalachian Athletics Conference Women's Softball Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 27-March 4, 2017.  Point improved its season records to 13-9 overall and 3-1 in conference action with three victories in four games during the week.

 

Anderson totaled 7 hits in 15 at-bats during the four games, a .467 batting average, with two doubles, three home runs and seven RBI.  Point defeated Reinhardt for the first time ever in game one on Thursday, March 2, by a 4-3 score and lost game two just 7-6.  Anderson went 1-for-6 with a double, two walks and three runs scored in the doubleheader.

 

Anderson exploded for three home runs and a double and six total hits in nine at-bats with six runs scored and seven RBI in a doubleheader sweep vs. Concordia, 12-7 and 16-0, March 3.  She hit a home run and two singles and scored three runs in game one and blasted two home runs over the right-field fence in the first inning of game two, a solo shot and a grand slam, as Point got off to an 11-0 lead with 10 hits.  Anderson added a double and a single, stole a base and drove in five runs in game two.

 

Point's lead-off batter, Anderson is batting .383 for the season and leads the team with 31 hits, seven doubles, three triples, three home runs and nine walks, and ranks second on the team with 20 RBI.
