WEST POINT, Ga. – Point University guard Candace Rhodes (JR/Stone Mountain, GA) has been named Appalachian Athletics Conference Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 27-Dec. 3, 2016.  Point lost a Nov. 30 conference game at Montreat College (N.C.), 68-67, and defeated Columbia College (S.C.), 77-67, Dec. 3, in West Point Park Gym.

 

Rhodes totaled a career-high 33 points and made 10-of-15 shots, 6-of-7 from three-point range and all seven of her free throws and also had two rebounds, two assists and two steals at Montreat, an NAIA Division II semifinalist last season.  She finished with 18 points and hit 5-of-15 shots, 4-of-10 three-pointers and 4-of-6 free throws against Columbia and gathered three rebounds, passed two assists and had two steals.

 

Rhodes currently leads Point in scoring at 18.2 points per game and has made a team-high 25 three-pointers in 51 attempts (.490) and leads the team with 43 free throws in 49 attempts (.878).  She ranks 13th in the NAIA Division II in three-point field goal percentage, 18th in free throw percentage and 20th in scoring average.  She has scored 10 or more points in eight of Point’s nine games this season.
