MCDONOUGH, Ga. - Clay Cofer, one of the top runners at Ola High School recently signed his letter of intent to run for the Skyhawks. Cofer, who ran a 17:36 at the 2013 Region 4AAAAA cross country championships and more recently ran a 4:58 1600 meter on the track, will vie for one of the top five spots on the team this fall.

"Our university is very fortunate to have a person like Clay coming onto our campus," said head coach Michael Caldwell. "He is a very good student, active in his church and is of high character. I think he will be surprised how good he can be, and he will be a consistent contributor to our team."

Cofer credits the close-knit family atmosphere as one of the reasons he chose the Skyhawks.

"I really liked the environment, and I think it would be a great place to stay focused on my grades, while also having a great time," Cofer said. "I want to improve as a runner, and I hope the same for my teammates. I want us to place well at conference, and possibly qualify for nationals."

"Clay is a hard worker and will give his all in everything he does in life," Cofer's high school coach Nikki Sosebee said.
