Women's Cross Country - Fri, Mar. 28, 2014

WEST POINT, Ga. - Sophomore standout Allison Mangham from Gordon State College has signed a letter of intent to run for the Skyhawks cross country team in 2014. Mangham, the top runner at Gordon the past two years ran a 21:03 at the Mercer Run Fit Invitational this past fall, as well as a 21:47 at the Georgia Region meet to garner All-Region honors.

"We are so blessed Allison will be attending Point University as she is going to be a leader on our team in terms of how you go about your business in the classroom, spiritually and athletically," said head coach Mike Caldwell. "The past few years, I have had the pleasure to get to know Allison, and she is a very competitive person and will thrive in our women's program as she will be joined by a dozen or more dedicated runners like herself."

Mangham, who will be joining her high school teammate Katie Williams, was asked what she plans to accomplish in her time at Point University.

Q: What do you plan on majoring in at Point University?

A: My major will be either Exercise Science or Education. I am still praying about this decision. I either want to be a primary school teacher or a coach. I think I would enjoy coaching very much and have always been told I should be a coach.

Q: Why did you decide on Point University?

A: I was offered a scholarship my senior year and fell in love with Point. However, it did not work out financially for me to come then. Now, two years later, everything has lined up and I know it is God's plan for me to be here.

Q: What are some goals you wish to accomplish at Point next year?

A: My goal is to be the best that I can be. I want to be better than I have ever been before and I know that I can do that with Coach Caldwell's and my teammates' help. It would be great to be able to attend Nationals with my new team.
