Victoria Perez, a standout track and cross country runner at Southwest Dekalb High School, has signed a national letter of intent to run for the Skyhawks this coming fall.

Perez is coming off a track season where she ran a season best 5:48 for the mile, 12:46 in the 3200M and 2:33 for the 800M this spring. She also found great success as one of the top cross country runners at Southwest Dekalb. In her senior season she consistently ran in the low 22:00 mark.

"Victoria is a talented runner that comes from a great family and joins a very gifted recruiting class," commented cross country head coach, Michael Caldwell. "She has the ability, combined with dedicated training, to be an integral part of a successful program for her next four years."

Perez's former coach at Southwest Dekalb added, "Victoria is a hard work, a good person and will do anything you ask her to improve herself."

When asked what influenced her decision to commit to Point, Perez stated, "My family has a strong Christian faith and I wanted to attend a university where I could enhance that faith and grow closer to God."

Perez has the goal of running in the low 20:00 range her freshman year and plans on majoring in early childhood education.
