WEST POINT, Ga. - Maegan Garritson, a two time all Empire Athletic Conference runner will be running for the Skyhawk cross country team next fall. Garritson, a star runner on the Fullerton College cross country and track teams, will be counted on to lead the Skyhawks during her time at Point.

Garritson ran a 19:09 at the 2012 Southern California Cross Country Championships, 19:22 at the 2013 California Cross Country Championships and a 19:25 at the Golden West Invitational.

"I am very excited we added Maegan to our team. She is a very talented runner who is committed to distance running," head coach Michael Caldwell said. "Maegan will be counted on to score for us in cross country, but just as important, she will help set the tone as to how hard our runners need to work each day to maximize their ability. In the spring, Maegan will try to represent Point at the NAIA Track and Field Nationals running the marathon."

Garritson's coach at Fullerton College, Gina Bevec had nothing but praise for the new Skyhawk.

"Maegan has been an integral part of the reason why we have been successful in our Cross Country program over the last two years," Bevec said. "In track and field, she has continued to show her strength in the distance events and a state finalist for us in the 10000m. She is a strong and hard worker who will continue to excel at the next level. I wish her much success in all her endeavors".
