Susana Marquez of Santa Ana College in California, made her commitment to the Skyhawks official with a national letter of intent. As the top runner at Santa Ana for the past two seasons, Marquez will be counted on to lead a talented young group of runners this upcoming year as the Skyhawks become eligible for NAIA postseason play.

Marquez was named first team all-conference in each of her two years at Santa Ana. She ran a personal best 18:59 at the 2010 Orange Empire Conference Championships where she finished third overall. She backed that performance in her sophomore season, finishing fifth at the conference championships with a time of 19:09. In 2011 Marquez ran a 19:09 at the SoCal Championships, 19:18 at the SoCal Preview, 19:28 at the Orange Coast Classic and a 19:57 at the 2011 state championship for California.

"We have a group of talented young freshman coming in this year but we needed an experienced runner to help set the tone in terms of what it takes to be a champion. Susana will fill that role for us," commented cross country head coach, Michael Caldwell. "She is a very talented and humble runner and it has been a pleasure getting to know her over the past couple of months."

"I want to become more spiritually involved in church and I feel Point offers me that opportunity," said Marquez when asked on why she chose Point. "I am really excited about how the University is expanding, growing and relocating and I'm looking forward to being part of a new program. Most importantly, I want to continue improving each year as a runner and I am anxious to begin training with my new teammates."
