Susana Marquez and Savanah Hanna represented Point University at historic Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence Kansas the site of the NAIA National Cross Country Championships.

Running the hilly course in 25 degree temperatures and steady wind, the girls performed extremely well. Marquez, who was a first team all conference runner all four years in college and two time runner of the week award winner in the AAC this season, finished the 5k course in 19:41. Her time was faster than any other individual qualifier from the AAC

Hanna, just a sophomore, completed the difficult course in a time of 20:32 to finish 4th among AAC individual qualifiers the same spot she secured two weeks ago at the AAC Championships.

"The girls really performed well today. It is tough to compete as an individual and these girls challenged themselves to do their best. Susana, a senior, is irreplaceable in terms of everything she brings to this program. She really had a good year with two overall wins and another spot on the all conference team. As for Savanah, she really improved this year and will only get better as she will emerge as a team leader next fall", commented head coach Mike Caldwell.

Savanah was asked how the race went and she summed it up by saying "It was cold". After the race Susana commented, "My last cross country race couldn't have ended better with one of the most awesome courses I have ever ran on".

Congratulations ladies on a great season!
