The Point University Lady Skyhawks, who were voted the preseason number two team in the Appalachian Athletic Conference, maintained their reputation on Saturday's meet against NCAA division one schools.
The Lady Skyhawks ran in difficult hot and humid conditions in a field that was made up of all NCAA division one universities, which was headlined with the likes of the University of Georgia, Georgia Tech, Mercer and Campbell University.

The top four finishers for the Lady Skyhawks stayed with their D1 foes. Junior Susana Marquez (Garden Groove, Calif.) led the Skyhawks in a time of 19:22 and finished ahead of one runner from UGA and five from Georgia Tech. Running with a large group of D1 runners from Tech, Mercer and Campbell was Junior Paola Gonzalez (Lancaster, Calif. ) (20:09), freshman Savannah Hanna (Alexander City, Ala.) (20:16) and freshman Riley Morrison (20:24). Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Skyhawks was sophomore Katie Crumbley (McDonough, Ga.) (25:10) and finishing right behind her was senior captain Tori Linder (Dacula, Ga.) (25:33).

"This was a good race for us to get the nerves out as we focus in on our next meet which should tell a lot about our team as we face a dozen or so small college and university teams," stated  women's cross country head coach, Mike Caldwell

Freshman Victoria Perez (Decatur, Ga.) will make her race debut this coming Friday as the Skyhawks travel to Clarkesville, Ga. to compete in the competitive North Georgia Technical College Invitational.
