The men's cross country team ran in the competitive Sand Shark Invitational on Saturday as they finished 21st overall out of 24 teams scoring. The field consisted of virtually all the top NAIA teams from the southeast and a few other non NAIA teams. The Point men turned in a solid performance as their top 5 runners averaged a 29:01 over the 8K course (nearly 5 miles). Freshman Jordon Dunwoody set a school record for the 8K course running a 26:57 and averaging 5 minutes and 25 seconds each mile! "Every week Jordon keeps getting better. He has a lot of natural talent and toughness, he has really taken to this distance", commented Coach Mike Caldwell.

Finishing with a personal record (PR) and running a tremendous race was fellow freshman Leonard Mason who ran a 28:24. Rounding out the scoring for the Skyhawks was Eliseo Magallon (29:05), Dezmond Skipper (30:18) and Luke Jensen (30:19). The next 2 finishers for Point ran personal best times with Aaron Lang coming in at 30:25 and Jorge Hernandez finishing at 30:26. "The men have 2 weeks left in their season. Next up is their biggest race of the season, we need to have a good 10 days of practice and put it all together at conference", stated Coach Caldwell.

Next up for the Skyhawks will be the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championships held in Dayton Tennessee on November 9th.
