Women's Cross Country - Mon, Sep. 17, 2012

The women's cross country team ran in the Mercer Run Fit Invitational this past Saturday; the conditions were warm and humid for the competitors that morning. The Lady Skyhawks battled a field of 19 talented colleges and finished sixth overall.

"What I like about these girls is they love to compete and do not back down from any team," commented head coach, Michael Caldwell. "We had a couple runners not 100 percent but we still managed to turn a few heads today. This group is the beginning of great things to come for Point University women's cross country."

Juniors, Susana Marquez (left) (15th overall / 20:17) and Paola Gonzalez (right) (17th overall / 20:21) led the Lady Skyhawks on Saturday. "That is a solid effort by those two to finish that high in a field that had 166 women complete the 5K course," stated Caldwell.

Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Skyhawks was Savanna Hanna finishing 32nd overall in a time of 20:59, freshman Riley Morrison (65th overall / 22:10), freshman Victoria Perez (Pictured Below) (84th overall / 22:48), senior, Tori Linder (25:57) and sophomore Katie Crumbley (26:42). The Lady Skyhawks will be back battling in two weeks when they travel to compete in the Louisville Classic where more than 115 Universities are scheduled to compete.
