Women's Cross Country - Sat, Aug. 31, 2013

The Point University Women's team began their season in humid Albany, Georgia at the Darton Invitational as the Lady Skyhawks took first place and placed 7 runners in the top 10. Susana Marquez became the first runner in the short history of the cross country program to be an overall winner as she led from wire to wire to claim the individual title running a 20:29. Following behind Marquez was Esther Estrada who finished second overall in a time of 20:49. Rounding out the rest of the finishers was, Jacqueline Escobedo (4th overall, 21:36), Savannah Hanna (5th overall, 22:02), Shelby Biddle (9th overall, 22:56), Kenya Gonzalez (10th overall, 23:20), Paola Gonzalez (11th overall, 23:37), Kati Williams (13th overall, 24:45) and Katie Crumbley (16th overall, 26:48).


"I was pleased the girls finished first overall today. We are really banged up and trying to overcome several girls who have been sick this week. The next two weeks we need to get healthy and improve because the competition will be a lot stronger from here on out," stated Coach Caldwell.


The Lady Skyhawks will be back in action on September 14th when they travel to the University of West Florida for the Gulf Coast Stampede.
