Jacqueline Escobedo, a native of Anaheim, Calif. Escobedo, who is a transfer from Fullerton College, is the fifth and final recruit to sign with the Skyhawks cross country team this recruiting season.

"We had a good recruiting class before we added Jacqueline. With Jackie, we have become even better. She is a solid runner who we expect to be in our top five and will fit right into our team as half our girls are from the west coast," said head coach Michael Caldwell.

Escobedo ran a 19:23 at the 2011 SoCal XC Championships and backed that up in 2012 running a 19:27. She also ran a 19:43 at the California Cross Country State Championships in 2011 and a 20:06 in the 2012 Championships.

Escobedo hopes to fulfill her goals while making her family proud while at Point.

"Deciding to come to Point is one of the biggest decisions I have ever made. I want to go to Point and do great things and make my parents proud.. My goals for cross country are to give it my all at every practice and each race. I want to help push my team so when we look back on each season, we have no regrets."

Coach Bevoc, Escobedo's coach at Fullerton had nothing but praise for the incoming transfer:

"Jackie brought responsibility and courage to our team and that is why we were successful. She was not afraid to work hard and she made everyone else around her step their training up. She loves to run and was the MVP of our team her freshman year and the leader of our team both years. She always gives her best in practice and meets."

Jackie hopes to major in Child and Youth Development at Point.
