The Point University Lady Skyhawks Cross Country team limped into Rome, Ga. on Saturday and competed in the competitive 6K Viking Open. The Skyhawks, running without one of their top runners, Paola Gonzalez, Senior Captain Tori Linder, and with a few injured runners, still managed a 10th place finish out of 15 teams scoring.

"Right now it is all about getting healthy for conference which is in three weeks. We have sacrificed the last few races in terms of team scoring by holding runners out in hopes they will overcome their injuries before conference. Ultimately, these girls will be judged on one thing, how they did at conference," commented Coach Caldwell.

Finishing first for the Skyhawks and 31st overall out of 142 runners was Susana Marquez (Garden Grove, Calif.) in a time of 24:59. Savanna Hanna (Pictured Above) (Alexander City, Ala.) was the second of the Skyhawks to cross the line in a time of 25:58 (52nd out of 142). Following Hanna was Riley Morrison (left) (Rincon, Ga.) 27:15 (73rd overall), Victoria Perez (Decatur, Ga.) 27:35 (80th overall) and Katie Crumbley (right) (McDonough, Ga.) 33:15 (128th overall).

The Skyhawks will be focusing on getting healthy and training the next several weeks as they turn their attention to their next meet, the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championships on November 3 in Dayton Tennessee.
