Women's Cross Country - Mon, Nov. 21, 2011

Riley Morrison, a top runner from South Georgia, has decided to attend Point University in the fall of 2012 to run for the Skyhawks. Morrison, a four-year varsity runner and captain her last two seasons, is the first signee of the class of 2012 with several others to follow soon. This past season, Morrison ran a seasons' best of 20:49 and was consistently in the 21 minute range all season long. "Riley Morrison is exactly what we are looking for in a student-athlete at Point University," stated head cross country coach Michael Caldwell.  "She is of high character, a hard worker and wants to be the best at everything she does. Riley will be a key to our cross country program in terms of where we want to be."

Morrison is an active member of Savannah Christian Church. She is undecided as to what she will major in at Point University. When asked about Morrison, Coach Danielson at Effingham County stated, "Riley is a super kid who has been a leader on our team the past 4 years. She ran with our varsity as an 8th grader due to no one could push her in middle school and it was the best way for her to improve. As a freshman, Riley and another girl were our two best runners and for the past 3 years, Riley has been our number one runner. When you think distance running in Effingham County, you think Riley Morrison."

Morrison will run track this spring concentrating on the 4x400, the mile and the two mile. After track season, Morrison will begin training for her freshman season of cross country at Point University.
