LAURINBURG, N.C. – The St. Andrews University Knights (1-6; 1-3 AAC) used two first-half goals en route to defeating the visiting Point University Skyhawks (4-6; 2-2 AAC), 2-1, in Sunday, Oct. 1 Appalachian Athletic Conference men's soccer action on Knights Field in Laurinburg, N.C. 


SAU scored early in the contest when Andres Carbajal found the back of the net just 5:57 into the match on a pass from Guilherme Soares to give the Knights an early 1-0 lead.  The Knights extended their lead to 2-0 with a goal from Juan Rico at 24:03 in the first half and took a two-goal lead into halftime.


The Skyhawks scored their first and only goal at 77:14 in the second half unassisted goal from sophomore midfielder Khalil Toure (Bamako, Mali), but Point would not score again and would go on to lose, 2-1.


Point starting goalkeeper Jacob Price (Hereford, UK) played the entire match and allowed two goals while saving three opponent shot, and SAU goalkeeper Valentino Parini started and played the entire match for the Knights and allowed one goal and made four saves.
