LAURINBURG, N.C. – The St. Andrews University Knights (1-6; 1-3 AAC) earned their first victory of the season, shutting out the visiting Point University Skyhawks (4-6; 2-2 AAC), 1-0, in Sunday, Oct. 1 Appalachian Athletic Conference women's soccer action on Knights Field in Laurinburg, N.C.

The Knights got on the scoreboard early with a goal 7:31 into the match by midfielder Tatiana Kendzulak, assisted by midfielder Arianna Brown.  That score would prove to be enough as neither team would find the back of the net for the remainder of the match, and SAU would go on to earn a conference victory over the Skyhawks in shutout fashion, 1-0.

Point outshot the Knights, 13-3, with six shots coming on-goal for Point and just two for SAU.  Point sophomore forward Tayler Beasley (Ringgold, GA) finished with four shots, two on goal, and sophomore midfielder Sabria Marquez (Savannah, GA) had three shots with two on-goal attempts.

Point's junior goalkeeper Rachel Ash (Douglasville, GA) played the entire match and allowed one goal and made one save, and SAU goalie Rachel Widdicks allowed no goals in her 90 minutes in-goal and saved six shots..

NEXT MATCH:  Coached by Randy Douglas, the Skyhawks host Georgia Gwinnett College for a non-conference match on Wednesday Oct. 4 at 7:00 p.m. Eastern time, at River Bowl Stadium in West Point, Ga.
