CLEVELAND, Ga.   Point University (9-5; 5-2 AAC) totaled 33 kills with nine attack errors in 59 attempts (.407) en route to a sweep of the host Truett McConnell University Bears (0-9; 0-4 AAC), 3-0, in Tuesday, September 26 Appalachian Athletics Conference volleyball action at the Bear Cave in Cleveland, Ga.  The Skyhawks won set one, 25-11, set two, 25-12 and set three, 25-17.

    

Point led the opening set by as many as 14 points and took the first set, 25-11.  The Skyhawks led by as many as 15 points on its way to securing the second set, 25-12, and Point led by as many as eight points during the third and final set and would go on to take the set, 25-17, and the match, 3-0.

 

Point finished the three-set match with 33 kills and nine attack errors in 59 total attacks (.407), 19 assists, two service aces, 28 digs, and four  total team blocks.  TMU totaled 18 kills with 23 errors in 69 total attacks (-.072), 14 assists, three service aces, 17 digs and no total team blocks.

 

Senior right-side hitter Suheily Colon-Rodriguez (Carolina, Puerto Rico) led the Skyhawks with eight kills and added four digs and three block assists, sophomore right-side hitter Charlotte Havrisik (Riverside, CA) finished with six kills, one block assist and one dig,  junior middle blocker Tatiana Dale (Kenner, LA) added five kills and three digs, and freshman middle blocker Mary Rimmer (Bay St. Louis, MS) totaled four kills and one dig.

 

Sophomore setter Julia Felix (New Orleans, LA) had one kill, nine set assists and three digs, and freshman setter Kaitlyn Hawke (Highland, MI) added six set assists.

 

Defensively, senior libero Gabriana Nichols (Pecos, TX) finished with five digs and went 9-for-10 in service receptions, and sophomore defensive specialist Tessa Burns (Columbus, GA) recorded four digs and went a perfect 7-for-7 in service receptions.

 

NEXT MATCH:  Coached by Amanda Jones, the Skyhawks remain on the road for a non-conference match with Talladega College, Thursday, Sept. 28, at 7:00 p.m., in Talladega, Ala.
