WEST POINT, GA   Union College (3-3-1), ranked 20th in the NAIA, snapped Point University's four-match winning streak with a 4-1 Appalachian Athletics Conference men's soccer victory at River Bowl Stadium, Saturday, Sept. 16.  The Skyhawks absorbed their first loss of the season and are now 5-1-1 this season.


Union netted two goals in each half and scored its four goals on just seven total shots and five shots on goal.  Union also led in corner kicks, 3-1.  Junior midfielder Justin Wilkinson assisted on the Bulldogs' first goal at the 18:02 mark of the first half, scored Union's second goal of the first half at 40:17 on a direct kick from 25 yards out, and also assisted on Union's fifth goal at 89:05.  Reserve forward Donja Smith scored the last two goals of the match at 75:37 and 89:05 of the second half.


Trailing 3-0 late in the second half, sophomore midfielder Christian Howell (Smiths Station, AL) cut the margin to 3-1 with an unassisted goal at 77:21, his first of the season.  Freshman forward Juan Gomez (Malaga, Spain) led Point with two shots, one on goal.  Point attempted five shots in the match with two on goal.


Point goalkeeper Ned Avies (Rochester, N.Y.) saved one Union shot on goal and allowed all four of Union's goals in 90 minutes of action, while Union goalkeeper Cameron McConnachie also saved one shot on goal and allowed a goal.
