Senior WR Charles Duckworth named Mid-South Conference Special Teams Player of the Week
Football - Tue, Sep. 5, 2017

WEST POINT, Ga.   Senior wide receiver Charles Ducksworth (Mt. Olive, Miss.) has been named Mid-South Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 2, 2017.

Ducksworth returned three kick-offs for 158 total yards, including a 90-yard touchdown return in the second quarter of a 51-33 loss to Campbellsville University at Ram Stadium in Valley, Alabama, Sept. 2.  Ducksworth also caught four passes for 56 yards, including a 27-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter, the final score of the contest for both teams.

After Campbellsville went ahead, 14-0, early in the second quarter, Ducksworth received the kick-off at his own 10-yard line and seemed to be hemmed in but broke tackles and sprinted across the field to daylight before turning upfield and outracing the Tigers' return defense to the end zone.

Ducksworth's kick-off return yard total of 158 yards ranks fourth in Point's single-game record books, and he now has two kick-off returns for touchdowns in his career (tied for first).  He ranks seventh in career kick-off return yards with 286 on six returns (47.67 yards per return).

He also ranks second in career receiving yards with 949, just eight yards short of William Eichman's total of 957 compiled in 2012-13, and ranks third with 52 career receptions, just two behind Eichman.  Ducksworth also is Point's career touchdown reception leader with 15 in just 13 career games and averages a career-leading 4.0 receptions per game.
