The Point women finished third out of six schools and the men placed third out of five schools at the Reinhardt Invitational.

CANTON, Ga.     The Point University women's cross country team finished its 4000-meter race with a third-place among six schools, and the men's team completed its 6000-meter event with a third-place finish among five schools at the Reinhardt University Invitational at Boling Park in Canton, Ga., Friday, Sept. 1.  

    

WOMEN'S DIVISION:  Point senior Rebecca Guadiana (Oak View, CA) finished first for the Skyhawks and placed 12th overall with a time of 16:22.63, the second-fastest time ever run by a Skyhawk over that distance.  Senior Shelby Garritson (Fullerton, CA) ran a time of 17:42.07, Point's third-best time ever over 6000 meters, and finished 23rd.  Sophomore Ashley Kaeser (Rincon, GA) finished 32nd with a time of 19:04.07 and sophomore Amanda Dalton (Melbourne, Fla.) finished 37th with a time of 19:39.40.

 

Senior Celly Ruiz (Ontario, Calif.) placed 45h in her second collegiate race with a time of 21:37.42, and senior Kimberly Irvin (Atlanta, GA) placed 55th among the 60 runners with a time of 25:17.64.

MEN'S DIVISION:  Freshman Donquarius Chappell (Trumann, AR) finished in 14th place with a time of 21:58.11, Point's second-fastest time ever for the 6000-meter distance, and freshman Nico Seaton (Cumming, GA) placed one spot behind Chappell in 15th place with a time of 22:01.34, the third-best time ever.  Senior Rafa Hewett (Lewiston, ID) placed 17th with a time of 22:12.91, the fifth-fastest time in Point history for 6000 meters.

 

Junior Tyler Agan (Locust Grove, GA) placed 19th with a time of 22:26.19 and senior Steven Tracy (Saint Simons Island, GA) rounded out Point's top five runners in 27th place with a time of 24:42.83.  Sophomore Drew Duram (LaGrange, GA) placed 29th with a time of 25:06.69, and sophomore completed the top seven with a time of 25:32.81, and placed 32nd overall.

 

Senior Roberto Carrizosa (Phoenix, Ariz) finished 33rd with a time of 25:50.67, and senior Clay Cofer (McDonough, GA), placed 34th with a time of 25:57.66.  Freshman Luis Garcia (Rincon, GA) also completed the race in 38th place among 47 total runners and posted a time of 27:17.70.

 

NEXT MEET:  Coached by Zachery Tyler, Point races next at the Middle Georgia State Invitational in Macon, Ga., Saturday, Sept. 9.  The men's race begins at 8:30 a.m., and the women's event begins approximately one hour later.
