WEST POINT, Ga. – Point University (2-0-1) found itself down 2-0 in the second half, but used three late goals during the final 25 minutes, capped off by the game-winner headed in by senior forward Juan Domingo (Alto, GA) at 88:11, to hand the visiting Southeastern University Fire (1-2-0) their second loss of the season, 3-2, in Tuesday, Aug. 29 non-conference intercollegiate men's soccer action at River Bowl Stadium in West Point, Ga. 


Southeastern did not hesitate to score early, with senior forward Caue Salgado finding the back of the net just 4:33 into the match to give the Fire a 1-0 lead, and a second goal off the foot of senior defender Tauan Salgado at 47:57 in the second half increased their lead to 2-0.


Point's offense remained silent for the first 20 minutes of the second half, until junior forward Amadeu Guimaraes (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) cut into the Fire's lead with a goal at 66:49 off a pass from sophomore midfielder Khalil Toure (Bamako, Mali), and Guimaraes tied the match 2-2 with his second goal of the contest at 70:38.


The score remained even for the next 17 minutes of the second half until Domingo controlled the ball off of a deflection and headed in the game-winning goal at 88:11, giving Point its first lead of the contest as the Skyhawks would go on to seal the victory, 3-2.  


Junior goalkeeper Ned Avies (Rochester, NY) played the entire match and allowed two goals while making five saves, and junior keeper Jorge Navarrete played the entire match for the Fire, allowing three goals and making four saves.
