WEST POINT, Ga. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced that seven of Point University's sports programs have been selected as 2016-17 Scholar-Teams, matching Point's total during the 2015-16 season.  


In order for a program to be eligible for the distinction of the NAIA Scholar-Team Award, it must have a minimum 3.0 grade-point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale as defined by the institution.  The team GPA includes all eligible, varsity student-athletes. 


Women's basketball, men's cross country, women's cross country, women's golf, men's soccer, women's tennis, and women's volleyball were the programs to earn the honor.  Women's golf led all other sports with a cumulative 3.60 GPA, followed by women's tennis with a 3.24 GPA, with women's cross country rounding out the top three with a 3.21 GPA.


Women's tennis has now been named to the NAIA Scholar-Team list for three consecutive years and women's basketball, men's cross country, women's cross country, women's golf have each made the list for two consecutive years.
