Point kicks off its season with a conference game on the road, Aug. 26, seeking revenge against a Webber International University team that beat the Skyhawks 28-14 on Point's homecoming a season ago.  The Skyhawks then play their first home game of the season on Sep. 2, against Campbellsville University which was 2-8 overall last season and was 0-5 in the Mid-South Conference.

Next, the Skyhawks have a week off before hitting the road to take on Georgetown College, Sep. 16, a team which was 7-4 overall and boasted a 5-1 conference record enroute to sharing the Mid-South Conference East Regular Season Championship with the University of Pikeville last season.  Point then stays on the road to face Division I opponent Charleston Southern University, Sep. 23.  Charleston Southern beat the Skyhawks in their only other meeting during the 2014 season, 61-9.

Divisional play begins on Sep. 30 when the Skyhawks host Reinhardt University which owns a 2-0 all-time series lead against Point, with the Skyhawks losing their most recent matchup at Reinhardt last season, 55-2.  On Oct. 7, Point travels to play against a University of Pikeville squad which finished last season 5-1 in conference, sharing the Mid-South Conference East Regular Season title with Georgetown.

Point then starts a three-game home stretch during which time it faces Bluefield College (Va.) on Oct. 14, St. Andrews University on Oct. 21, and Ave Maria University on Oct. 28.  The Skyhawks hold a 2-0 all-time advantage over Bluefield and won their most recent matchup 50-27 at Bluefield in 2015.  Point has never played St. Andrews University which is entering its inaugural season with football, and Point leads the all-time series 3-2 with Ave Maria, taking last year's game at Ave Maria to close out the season, 22-7.

The final two games of the 2017 season are on the road at the University of the Cumberlands, Nov. 4, and at Union College, Nov. 11.  Cumberlands went 4-6 last year and finished 3-3 in conference while Union finished with a 5-6 overall record and went 4-2 in conference.
