WEST POINT, Ga. – Point University men's tennis coach Chad Simpson has added Alex Tongson from Northside High School in Columbus, Ga. to his team for the upcoming 2017-18 season.

Simpson commented on his recruit, "We are really pleased that Alex will join the Skyhawk family this fall.  He is gifted with a racket and we will look to add to his movement and the use of his legs in order to add more power to his shots.  We are thrilled to recruit local talent as there are many great players training in Columbus."

The son of Trisha and Rick Tongson and brother of Jude and Mikey Tongson, Alex is a 2017 graduate of Northside High School where he placed second in his region and advanced to the sweet sixteen of the state tournament during his senior season.  Tongson attends Cascade Hills Church and teaches and helps those with special needs to play tennis.

When asked why he chose Point University to further his education and his tennis career, Alex said, "I chose Point University because I enjoyed the great environment when I made my first visit.  Everyone I met was very nice and I got along with the players on the tennis team well."
