WEST POINT, Ga. – Point University men's golfers Francisco de Oliveira (JR/Algarve, Portugal) and Brayton Gineris (SO/McDonough, GA) have been named to the 2017 Daktronics-NAIA Men's Golf Scholar-Athlete team by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).  A total of 144 NAIA men's golf student-athletes earned selection to the list.


In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or Sports Information Director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved an academic standing of junior or higher.


De Oliveira boasted a 4.06 stroke average per hole in 504 holes in 28 rounds and has three first-place finishes and one second-place finish and has been Point's individual leader in six of the twelve tournaments in which it competed during the combined fall and spring season.  De Oliveira's season awards include two AAC Men's Golfer of the Week selections, the AAC Player of the Year Award, and he also was named a semifinalist for the Jack Nicklaus Award for the NAIA.  Generis had a 4.67 stroke average in 180 holes during a total of 10 rounds of gold during the 2016-17 season.
