Men's Lacrosse - Fri, May 5, 2017

WEST POINT, Ga. – Point University men's lacrosse player Najarri Whitehead (SR/Decatur, GA) has been named to the 2017 Daktronics-NAIA Men's Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete team by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).  A total of 23 NAIA men's lacrosse student-athletes earned selection to the list.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or Sports Information Director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved an academic standing of junior or higher

Whitehead (SR/Decatur, GA) scored 26 goals and six assists during the 2017 season and played a key role as Point set a school record with eight victories (8-7).  The Skyhawks also won a Appalachian Athletics Conference post-season tournament match, upsetting University of the Cumberlands (Ky.), the number seven-ranked team in the NAIA, and played in their first-ever AAC championship match against Reinhardt University (Ga.)

Whitehead graduates in May, 2017, and is planning to attend Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky.
