Point University signs Alexis James from Jones County H.S. for its women's basketball program
Women's Basketball - Tue, May 2, 2017

WEST POINT, Ga. – Point University women's basketball coach Tory Wooley has added 5-10 forward and center Alexis James from Jones County High School in Gray, Ga. for his 2017-18 squad.

"Alexis brings additional depth from the post positin to our team," commented Coach Wooley.  "Her ability to finish around the basket should be an asset to our team.  Alexis was a great rebounder and defender at Jones County, and those attributes will be called upon at the next level.  Here desire to compete and learn from our returning post players will be exciting to watch as she develops over the course of the next four years.  I am excited not only to have a great player, but an outstanding student-athlete joining our program."

Daughter of Tony James and Tilisha Sanford, Alexis played for Coach Lance Pittman at Jones County High School for two seasons.  She averaged 6.1 points and 4.3 rebounds in 26 games for the Greyhounds during her senior season.

James commented about her reasons for choosing Point University as the place where she will continue her education and basketball career, "I chose Point University because it is small and loving.  I was so welcomed with open arms, and the atmosphere was warm.  The basketball team was so friendly and treated everyone fairly, and the Point coaches were very respectful.  I also chose Point because it is a Christian school, and it is not far from home.  Lastly, I chose Point because it is a private college – just what I have been seeking."
