WEST POINT, Ga. – Point University (29-19) pitching allowed just one run on three hits and struck out seven enroute to defeating Division II  opponent Columbus State University (28-18), 3-1, in Tuesday, April 25 intercollegiate baseball action at Skyhawk Field in West Point, Ga.


Starting pitcher Sahir Fersobe (JR/Santo Domingo, D.R.) improved his record to 2-3 and allowed just one hit, one unearned run, four walks, and struck out six in seven innings on the mound.  Relief pitcher Jesse Ford (JR/Phenix City, AL) notched his third save of the season and allowed two hits and struck out one batter in two innings of work.


The Skyhawks fell behind 1-0 after CSU plated one in the top of the third, but Point tied the Cougars during the bottom half of the inning on an RBI single by leftfielder Kyle Kelly (SO/Thomasville, GA) that scored shortstop Nathan Greene (JR/Rex, GA) who walked earlier in the inning, and the Skyhawks took the lead when Kelly made it home on an RBI single up the middle by catcher Juan Reyes (JR/Santo Domingo, D.R.) with two outs.


Point added its final run in the bottom of the seventh on a two-out RBI single off the bat of rightfielder Anthony Padron (SR/Columbus, GA), scoring Greene who led off the inning with a single.


Kelly finished the contest with three hits, one RBI and scored one run, and Greene, Reyes, first baseman Christian Cabral (SR/Santo Domingo, D.R.), Padron, and second baseman Taylor Harper (SO/Columbus, GA) each added one hit with Reyes and Padron adding one RBI each.


NEXT GAMES:  Coached by John Tyler, the Skyhawks travel to Laurinburg, N.C. to play their final regular-season Appalachian Athletic Conference three-game series against St. Andrews University.  Games one and two will be a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, and game three will be played Friday, April 28 at 10 a.m.
