WEST POINT, Ga. – Point University men's swimming coach Kaymee Kelly has added Wyatt Wood from Callaway High School in Hogansville, Georgia to her 2017-18 squad.  Wood is the first swimmer from Callaway High School to sign with Point University.

"It is great to sign a local swimmer of Wyatt's caliber," commented Coach Kelly.  "Wyatt is a talented young man with a lot of potential.  I had the opportunity to watch him compete at the state level and look forward to coaching him to the conference and national level.  He is a good fit for our program and university."

Son of Gary and Sheila Wood of Hogansville, Ga., Wyatt swam butterfly and freestyle races for his high school swimming team, coached by Lauren Pickard.  He has been named team Most Valuable Athlete twice and led Callaway in points.  He is the first Callaway swimmer to qualify for the Georgia State meet.  Wood also serves as captain of the Valley Area Swimming Academy team.

Wood also is active in the Youth Leadership Program of the First Baptist Church of Hogansville and also is a member of Callaway's Air Force Junior ROTC program and has risen to the post of Corps Commander with a rank of Cadet Colonel.

Wood commented on why he chose Point as the place where he will continue his education and competitive swimming career, "I choose Point University because of the atmosphere and the Christian orientation.  I feel that Point can further my education and my walk with God."
