MONTREAT, N.C. – Ten members of the Point University men's and women's distance track teams competed in six distance events at the Appalachian Athletics Conference Track and Field Championships, hosted by Montreat College in Montreat, N.C.


Point's men's squad placed 11th among 11 teams with two team points, and the women's team also placed tenth among 10 schools with four team points.


MEN:  In the men's division, sophomore Tyler Agan (Locust Grove, GA) earned two points with a seventh-place finish out of 19 runners in the 10,000-meter run.  Agan covered the distance in 35:01.78, the best time ever recorded by a Point male student-athlete.  Drew Duram (FR/LaGrange, GA) placed 19th in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 42:05.75.


In Friday action, Brayton Gineris (JR/McDonough, GA) placed 14th among 27 runners in the 1500-meter run with a season-best time of 4:29.30, and Gage Brasher (FR/Ashland, AL) placed 25th with a time of 4:59.87.  The same pair also competed in the 800-meter run on Saturday with Gineris placing 10th among 22 runners with a season-best time of 2:03.60 and Brasher finishing 16th with a season-best time of 2:16.13.


Clay Cofer (JR/McDonough, GA) placed 23rd among 23 runners in the men's 5000-meter run on Saturday with a time of 19:51.93.


WOMEN:  Maegan Garritson (SR/Fullerton, CA) earned three points for the Skyhawks' women's team with a sixth-place finish out of 13 runners in the 10,000-meter run with a season-best time of 41:57.18.  Garritson already has qualified for the marathon event at the NAIA Women's Track and Field Championships, which will be run Saturday, May 27, at 6 a.m., in Gulf Shores, Ala., the hosts of the men's and women's championships, May 25-27, in Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium.


Point University's Rebecca Guadiana (JR/Oak View, CA) raced to an eighth-place finish among 29 runners in the women's 5000-meter run with a season-best time of 19:59.17, and Shelby Garritson (JR/Fullerton, CA) finished 15th with her season-best time of 21:15.48.  Ashley Kaeser (FR/Rincon, GA) placed 26th with a time of 24:07.66, and Abby Contreras (JR/Peachtree City, GA) placed 29th with a time of 25:52.70.
