KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Point University (8-6) defeated the #7 University of the Cumberlands (9-5), 13-10, in the semifinals of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Men's Lacrosse Championships on Friday, April 21 men's lacrosse action at Blaine Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn.  The Skyhawks now advance to the championship game and will face the winner of the other semifinal game between Reinhardt University (12-1; 6-0 AAC) and Tennessee Wesleyan University (5-8; 3-3 AAC) on Friday, April 21 at 7:30 p.m. at Blaine Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn.  


After the game, head coach Sean Feeley said, "I am extremely proud of how the guys played today.  This was a total team effort and we are excited to play for the conference title.  It's a quick turnaround for the game tomorrow, but I know the guys will be ready." 


Point attacker Chase Parker (FR/Lawrenceville, GA) opened the scoring with an unassisted goal at 12:40 in the first quarter, giving the Skyhawks an early 1-0 lead.  UC netted two goals in the first quarter at 4:11 and 1:39 to take the lead from the Skyhawks going into the second quarter, 2-1.


The Skyhawks started the second quarter with four unanswered goals and outscored the Patriots 4-1 during the quarter.  The first goal was by midfielder William Burgos (SO/St. Augustine, FL) at 13:23 on an assist from Parker, midfielder Greg Wilson (SR/Augusta, GA) scored the second goal at 12:21, Parker picked up his second goal of the half at 11:31 on an assist from attacker Najarri Whitehead (SR/Decatur, GA), and the final goal of the quarter  was throw in by attacker Joshua Gracia (JR/Fleming Island, FL) in a man-up situation on an assist from Burgos.


Point entered halftime with a 5-3 lead and kicked off the third quarter with two consecutive goals by midfielder William Collazo-Brown (JR/Baltimore, MD) at 12:47 and Gracia's second goal of the game at 12:13 on Parker's second assist to increase its advantage to four goals, 7-3.


The Patriots battled back and put together a 4-1 run over the next 3:59 to cut Point's lead to just one goal with 7:58 remaining in the third quarter, 8-7.  The Skyhawks never allowed UC to tie the game and finished the remainder of the contest on a 5-3 run to defeat the Patriots in the semifinal round of the AAC men's lacrosse Championships, 13-10.


Starting goalie Harry Dismukes (FR/Spanish Fort, AL) allowed 10 goals and saved 22 opponent shots, and UC starting goalie Dakota Lambing allowed 13 goals and made eight saves.


Gracia led the Skyhawks with four goals and added one assist, Wilson scored three goals and had one assist, and Parker threw in three goals and contributed two assists.  Burgos finished with two goals, Collazo-Brown had one goal and one assist and Whitehead had two assists.


NEXT GAME:  Coached by Feeley, the Skyhawks will face either the number-one seed Reinhardt University Eagles or the number-four seed Tennessee Wesleyan Bulldogs in the AAC championship game on Saturday, April 22 at 12:30 p.m. at Blaine Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn.
