Catcher Juan Reyes named AAC Baseball Player of the Week for April 9-15

WEST POINT, Ga. – Point University catcher Juan Reyes (SR//Santo Domingo, Dom. Rep.) has been named Appalachian Athletics Conference Baseball Player of the Week for the week of April 9-15.  Point (27-16) won three of its four games during the week, including a three-game conference series sweep at Bluefield College, and took over first place in the AAC standings with a 17-4 record.


Reyes is the second consecutive Point player to receive a conference's weekly award for baseball – right-hander Payne Kosobucki (SR/Midland, GA) also received AAC Pitcher of the Week recognition for April 2-8.


Reyes hit safely in all four of Point's games last week and owns a current six-game batting streak and has hit safely in 16 of his last 18 games.  Reyes totaled eight hits in 16 at-bats (.500) with three doubles and a home run, two walks and four RBI.  He hit a double and a home run and went 4-for-5 with three RBI in a 14-4 home loss vs. NAIA #8 Georgia Gwinnett, April 11.  He was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk and one run scored in a 7-5 victory in game one vs. Bluefield, April 14, and went 2-for-4 in game two.


Against Bluefield on April 15, Reyes went 1-for-4 with a double, an RBI, a walk and two runs scored.  Reyes is batting a team-high .366 this season with a team-high 11 doubles and two home runs and 13 RBI.
