VALLEY, Ala. – Point University women's tennis (6-13; 3-5 AAC) lost a 9-0 Appalachian Athletes Conference match to second-place Reinhardt University (11-3; 7-1 AAC), Monday, April 10, at the Sportsplex in Valley, Ala.

 

The Skyhawks set a school single-season record for most dual-match victories (6).  Point recorded conference victories over Columbia (S.C.), Union (Ky.), and Montreat (N.C.) and non-conference wins over Georgia Wesleyan College, Blue Mountain, and Albany State.

 

The Skyhawks finished the conference season in sixth place in the AAC standings behind 19th–ranked SCAD-Atlanta (9-6; 7-0 AAC); Reinhardt University (11-3; 7-1 AAC); Tennessee Wesleyan (10-6; 6-2 AAC); Bluefield (6-6; 6-3 AAC); and Milligan College (8-9; 4-3 AAC).

 

Head coach Chad Simpson, commented, "Katie (Larck) played great today.  She was just a few points away from taking the first set.  We look to finish strongly and build momentum going into next season."

 

Luz Padilla (JR/Tucuman, Argentina) and Katie Larck (FR/Champaign, IL), now 9-13 overall and 2-6 in conference, teamed up at number one doubles and lost 8-2 to Reinhardt's Albane Queinnec and Chiara Rebecchi at number one doubles, and Eman Cohen (FR/Columbus, GA) and Victoria White (SR/Kokomo, IN), 3-6 overall and 1-4 in conference, lost an 8-0 super set to Paula Puentes and Yamit Vodavoz at number two doubles.

 

With senior team captain Taylor Navarro missing from the line-up, Point defaulted the number three doubles and number six singles matches, giving Reinhardt a 4-0 lead before the other five singles matches had been decided.

 

Padilla (10-17; 2-6 AAC) also lost her number one singles match to Rebecchi, 6-0, 6-0, and Larck (5-15; 1-7 AAC) lost set one, 6-4, and set two, 6-2, against Ariel Schneider at number two singles.  Cohen (9-16; 3-5 AAC) lost 6-0, 6-3 against Vodavoz at number three singles, and Victoria White (6-11; 2-6 AAC) lost 6-0, 6-0 to Puentes at number four singles.  Ashley Lane (JR/LaGrange, GA), now 3-10 overall and 1-4 in AAC matches, lost 6-0, 6-0 at number five singles against Jamie Lunceford from Reinhardt.
