WEST POINT, Ga. – Point University co-captain Daniel Blanchard (SR/Peachtree City, Ga.) has been named Appalachian Athletics Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of April 2-8.  He is the third Point player to receive the weekly award from the AAC – Rafa Hewett (SR/Lewiston, Ida.) and Asad Siyyid (SO/Toronto, Ontario, Canada) also received AAC Player of the Week recognition earlier in the season.

Blanchard provided both of Point's team points in a 7-2 conference loss at SCAD-Atlanta, April 7.  He defeated SCAD's Patric Toren, 6-4, 7-6 with a 7-2 tiebreaker in set two of his number four singles match and teamed up with number one doubles partner Rafa Hewett for a 9-8 win (with a 10-8 tiebreaker) over SCAD's top pair, Alberto Menendez and Patric Toren.

Blanchard improved his season singles record to 12-9, and Blanchard and Hewett are 14-2 together and 6-0 in conference at #1 doubles. Blanchard's overall doubles record is 18-3.  Point is 12-7 overall and 4-2 in conference matches this season.  Blanchard also ranks second in Point men's tennis history with 49 career singles wins and 61 career doubles victories in four seasons.
