MT. BERRY, Ga. – Four members of the Point University men's and women's distance track teams competed in three events at the 2017 Berry College Field Day Invitational in Mt. Berry, Ga., Friday, April 7.  Point did not score any points in the meet.


Point University's Abby Contreras (JR/Peachtree City, GA) placed 53rd among 58 runners in the 5000-meter run with a season-best time of 22:55.81, and Maegan Garritson (SR/Fullerton, CA) placed second out of three runners in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 42:12.89.  Garritson already has qualified for the marathon event at the NAIA Women's Track and Field Championships, which will take place May 25-27, in Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores, Alabama.  The marathon begins at 6 a.m., Saturday, May 27, in Gulf Shores.


In the men's 5000-meter run, Clay Cofer (JR/McDonough, GA) placed 44th among 46 runners with a season-best time of 18:58.03, and Drew Duram (FR/LaGrange, GA) placed 45th with a time of 19:28.87.


NEXT MEET:  Coached by Zachery Tyler, the Point distance track teams compete next at the Appalachian Athletics Conference Championships, Friday and Saturday, April 21-22, at Montreat College (N.C.).
