Two-time AAC Golfer of the Week, Courtney Lowery

WEST POINT, Ga. – Courtney Lowery (JR/Greenville, GA) from Point University has won Appalachian Athletics Conference Women's Golfer of the Week recognition for the week of March 19-25, 2017, her second consecutive AAC Golfer of the Week honor.


Lowery tied for second place among 60 golfers at the Tennessee Wesleyan Bojangles Spring Invitational at the Tennessee National Golf Course in Loudon, Tenn., March 20-21.  Lowery shot rounds of 76 on day one and a 74 on day two for a 36-hole total of 150, equaling Julchen Narwark from Loyola University of New Orleans, and finished just one stroke Daria Delfino from Loyola, who shot a two-day total of 149, including a tournament-best round of 72 on day one.


Lowery led Point to a fourth-place team finish among 10 schools with 670 strokes.  The Skyhawks entered the clubhouse after day one in sixth place and improved its standing two places with its second-day performances.  Loyola, an NAIA school, put together a 36-hole total of 627, and finished nine strokes ahead of Northwestern College (Ohio), which ranks 20th in the NAIA.  Third-place St. Andrews University (N.C.), one of Point's conference opponents, scored 652 for third place, and Point finished fourth.


Lowery also received the NAIA Golfer of the Week Award for March 12-18, when she earned her third individual championship of the season at the Point University Skyhawk Invitational at Callaway Gardens Golf Course in Pine Mountain, Ga., March 13-14.
