WEST POINT, Ga. – Point University attacker Sable Hawkins (JR/Newnan, GA) earned Offensive Player of the Week honors and goalie Emma Gross (FR/St. Augustine, FL) received Defensive Player of the Week recognition from the Appalachian Athletics Conference for the week of March 19-25, 2017.


Point won both of its conference road matches last week and has won three consecutive matches.  The Skyhawks defeated St. Andrews, 7-2, and Montreat, 19-5.  The Skyhawks' have improved their records to 5-9 overall and 2-4 in conference.


Hawkins totaled eight goals, three assists, 10 shots, nine shots on goal, six ground balls and three draw controls in Point's victories.  She scored goals on both of her shots on goal and had two ground balls at St. Andrews and scored a season-high six goals with three assists for nine points on eight shots, seven on goal, and had four ground balls and three draw controls at Montreat.  Hawkins has scored 14 goals, seven in AAC games, with five assists for 33 points in nine matches.


Gross has improved her season record to 4-5 in the Point goal with three consecutive wins.  Gross played the first half against St. Andrews and saved all seven shots on goal that she faced, and had two ground balls.  Point led 2-0 at halftime.  Gross played the entire 60 minutes at Montreat and faced just eight shots on goal and had three saves and two ground balls and allowed five goals.
