MONTREAT, N.C. – Point University (5-9; 2-4 AAC) defeated Montreat College (0-9; 0-3 AAC), 19-5, in Saturday, March 25 Appalachian Athletic Conference intercollegiate women's lacrosse action in Montreat, N.C.  With the win, the Skyhawks have now won three consecutive games.

     

The Skyhawks scored seven unanswered goals during the final 16:44 of the first half, and led the Cavaliers by 10 goals at halftime, 13-3.  Point added six more goals in the second half to increase its lead, and held Montreat to just two goals enroute to a 14-goal win, 19-5.

Point starting goalie Emma Gross (FR/St. Augustine, FL) played the entire game and allowed five goals and made three saves.  The Cavalier's starting goalkeeper Amirah Moize played the entire game and allowed 19 goals and made 13 saves.

Point attacker Sable Hawkins (JR/Newnan, GA) led all scorers in the game with six goals and midfielder Cathy Slusher (JR/St. Augustine, FL) added three goals in the contest.  Attacker Grace Beardsley (JR/Peachtree City, GA), midfielder Kristen Owens (JR/Auburn, AL), and midfielder Dakota Overton (SO/Newnan, GA) each finished the game with two goals.  Midfielder Hannah Hutto (SR/Evans, GA) defender Reyne Perez (FR/Lithonia, GA), defender Deija Martin (JR/Duluth, GA), and attacker Ta'Mara Moore (JR/Birmingham, AL) each contributed one goal.

The Skyhawks scored 19 goals, attempted 46 shots, picked up 40 ground balls, controlled 16 draws, committed two turnovers, and committed 37 fouls.  The Cavaliers scored five goals, attempted 11 shots, scooped up 28 ground balls, controlled nine draws, committed nine turnovers, and committed 14 foul.

NEXT GAME:  Coached by Bryan Stanley, the Skyhawks host Truett McConnell University in an Appalachian Athletic Conference game on Wednesday, March 29, at 5:30 p.m., in West Point, Ga.
