SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Point University men's and women's distance track teams competed at the 2017 Savannah State University Orange and Blue Classic in Savannah, Ga., Saturday, March 11.  Four male and three female student-athletes raced during the meet.

 

Point's Rebecca Guadiana (JR/Oak View, CA), an All-Appalachian Athletics Conference cross country selection and a three-time qualifier for the NAIA National Cross Country Championships, finished second among seven runners in the 1500-meter run with a time of 5:16.14 and also placed fifth among seven runners in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:37.34.

 

Abby Contreras (JR/Peachtree City, GA) and Ashley Kaeser (FR/Rincon, GA) raced each other in the 5000-meter event, with Contreras winning with a time of 23:19.86 with Kaeser close behind in 23:20.47.  Both are members of Point's cross country squad in the fall season.

 

For the men's distance team, Brayton Gineris (JR/McDonough, GA) placed fifth among 10 runners in the 1500-meter race with a time of 4:29.81, with Gage Brasher (FR/Ashland, AL) in 10th place with a time of 4:55.23.  Gineris also placed ninth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:11.70, and Brasher ran 11th with a time of 2:19.57.

 

Clay Cofer (JR/McDonough, GA) placed fifth among six runners in the 5000-meter run with a time of 19:15.39, and Drew Duram (FR/LaGrange, GA) placed sixth with a time of 19:35.09.
