WEST POINT, Ga. –Lourdes University (3-0), ranked number two in the NAIA Top 25 Coaches' poll, defeated Point University (3-4), 13-9, in Thursday, March 9 non-conference intercollegiate men's lacrosse action at River Bowl Stadium in West Point, Ga.


Midfielder Greg Wilson (SR/Augusta, GA) assisted attacker Chase Parker (FR/Lawrenceville, GA) on his tenth goal of the season and put the Skyhawks on the board first at 9:46 in the first quarter.  Lourdes attacker Jared Yoshino tied the game with a goal at 8:41 in the first quarter and put his team ahead, 2-1, with his second goal of the day at 6:41.  Point responded with two unanswered goals to close out the first quarter, the first by Parker at 6:09, and the second from Wilson at 5:01.  Point took a 3-2 lead into the second quarter.


The Skyhawks increased their lead to two goals in the second quarter, 4-2, after a goal from the stick of attacker Najarri Whitehead (SR/Decatur, GA) at 10:19, but the Grey Wolves answered Point's early offensive success by closing out the second quarter on a 5-0 run and took a three-goal lead into halftime, 7-4.


Lourdes added to its advantage by outscoring Point 3-2 in the third quarter, taking a 10-5 lead into the fourth quarter, but the Skyhawks did not go quietly in the fourth quarter, scoring four goals.  In the final quarter,  Lourdes midfielder Cory Campbell put the Gray Wolves up 11-5 with a goal at 12:18, but the Skyhawks used three unanswered goals, two by midfielder William Collazo-Brown (JR/Baltimore, MD) at 12:03 and 9:52, and third from attacker Joshua Gracia (JR/Fleming Island, FL) at 9:01.


Lourdes added another goal at 5:09, Gracia threw in his second goal of the game at 4:39, but the Grey Wolves scored one final goal at 4:12 to gain a four-goal advantage and to seal the win, 13-9.


Parker led the Skyhawks with three goals and also added one ground ball.  Wilson and Whitehead each scored one goal and one assist, and Gracia and Collazo-Brown each chipped in with two goals and one assist.  Defender Mitchell Daniel (JR/McDonough, GA) scooped up three ground balls and caused two turnovers, and defender Kalen Newsome (SR/Vallejo, CA) finished the contest 14-of-24 on face-offs and collected four ground balls.


Yoshino led Lourdes in scoring with eight goals and one assist and picked up eight ground balls.  Attacker Drew Gilhooly threw in two goals, and Campbell and attacker Dalton Vowles each added one goal for the Grey Wolves.


Starting goalie Harry Dismukes (FR/Spanish Fort, AL) allowed 13 goals and saved 18 opponent shots, and Lourdes goalie Jared Huiskens allowed nine goals and saved six Point shots.
