COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Point University men's and women's distance track teams competed at the 2017 Columbus State University Cougar Invitational at Brookside High School in Columbus, Ga., Saturday, Feb. 25.  Five men and two women represented Point at the meet.

 

Point University's Rebecca Guadiana (JR/Oak View, CA), an All-Appalachian Athletics Conference selection in cross country during the fall season and a three-time qualifier for the NAIA National Cross Country Championships, finished in second place in the 3000-meter run with a time of 11:19.62 and scored all eight of the Skyhawks' points in the meet.  Ashley Kaeser (FR/Rincon, GA), also a member of Point's cross country squad in the fall, placed 13th among the 15 runners in the same race with a time of 13:31.29.

 

In the men's 1500-meter run, Gage Brasher (FR/Ashland, AL) placed 21st among 23 runners with a time of 5:03.38.  Brayton Gineris (JR/McDonough, GA) placed 14th among 25 runners in the 3000-meter run with a time of 10:06.48, and Tyler Agan (SO/Locust Grove, GA) finished 15th with a time of 10:06.64.  Clay Cofer (JR/McDonough, GA) placed 23rd in the 3000 with a time of 11:10.56, and Drew Duram (FR/LaGrange, GA) placed 24th with a time of 11:26.21.

 

University of Montevallo won the women's team championship with 146 points and Augusta placed second with 135.  Columbus State finished third with 97, and Clark Atlanta placed fourth with 94.  Columbus State won the men's championship with 187 points, with Montevallo second with 120, and Augusta third with 90.  Morehouse College finished fourth with 74.
