WEST POINT, Ga. – Point University (6-5) defeated Albany State University (0-5) in 10 innings, 9-8, on Tuesday, Feb. 14, at Skyhawks Field in West Point, Ga.  


The Skyhawks battered ASU's starting pitcher Jordan Pullens, who went only two-thirds of an inning, allowed six runs, five earned, five hits, and three walks.  


Pitcher Eden Payano relieved the Golden Ram's starter, and allowed two runs; both earned, walked one, and struck out two.  ASU's next five relievers held Point scoreless from the fourth inning until the tenth, allowing a combined two hits, four walks, and striking out five.


Losing pitcher Lawrence Hyde pitched one-third of an inning, and suffered the loss on an error by the left fielder that allowed Point infielder Kyle Kelly (SO/Thomaston, GA) to score the game-winning run in the bottom of the 10th.


Left fielder Jeffery Ginn (SR/Newnan, GA) had two hits, walked twice, knocked in two, and scored one run.     Point center fielder Bryce Jay (SR/Gardendale, AL) finished going 2-for-5 with two RBI and scored one run, and designated hitter Devario Allen (JR/Saginaw, MI) also had two hits, scored one run and one RBI.


Point starting pitcher Sahir Fersobe (JR/Santo Domingo, D.R.) allowed no hits, no runs, walked four, and struck out three in two innings.  He was relieved by six different Skyhawks who combined to allow nine hits, eight runs, five earned, four walks, and six strikeouts in eight innings of work.


NEXT GAME:  Coached by John Tyler, The Skyhawks travel to the University of Mobile for a three-game weekend series.  Game will be played on Friday, Feb. 24, at 4 p.m., and the remaining two games will be played as a doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 25, starting at 2 p.m.
