WEST POINT, Ga. – Point University evened its record at 3-3 with a 9-1 victory in six innings in game one and a 10-0 victory in five innings in game two against Clark Atlanta University (4-6) in Tuesday, Feb. 14 non-conference women's softball doubleheader action at Skyhawks Field in West Point, Ga.  Point powered 21 hits, including five doubles, a triple and four home runs, including three 3-run home runs, in the doubleheader sweep.

CLARK ATLANTA AT POINT, GAME ONE:  Clark Atlanta scored one unearned run in the top of the second inning, and Point tied the game in the bottom of the second on an RBI ground ball by catcher Brooke Williams (JR/Valley, AL).  The Skyhawks then struck for five runs on four hits and two CAU errors in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth.

Winning pitcher Ryan Simpson (SO/Cussetta, AL) improved her record to 2-3 and struck out five, walked just one batter and allowed five hits in six innings of work.  Losing pitcher Ajada Cofield (3-3) allowed 12 hits, one walk and nine runs, five earned in 5-2/3 innings.

Point totaled 12 hits in game one, including a lead-off double by centerfielder Amber Anderson (SR/Hazel Green, AL), a two-RBI double by third baseman Lacy Striblin (SO/Valley, AL) and a two-RBI triple by right-fielder Mikayla Owen (SR/Bradenton, FL) during Point's five-run rally in the fifth inning, and a three-run walk-off home run by pinch-hitter Casey Orr (FR/Niceville, FL), her first collegiate home run, in the bottom of the sixth inning.  Orr's high drive down the left-field line stayed just fair and gave the Skyhawks a 9-1 lead and caused the umpires to invoke the eight-run lead rule and end the game at that point.

Striblin went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI; Owen went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI; and first baseman Shea Pendley (SO/Chatsworth, GA) was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

CLARK ATLANTA AT POINT, GAME TWO:  Point scored six runs in the second inning and four more in the third and totaled nine hits against Cofield (3-4) and reliever Shalonda Woods in a five-inning game ended by the eight-run advantage rule.  Point also received three walks and struck out just once in game two.

Point starting pitcher Allie Beilstein (FR/Montgomery, AL) picked up her first collegiate victory (1-0) and allowed one walk and just two singles in four innings of work.  Reliever Kelsey Davis (FR/Valley, AL) made her collegiate debut and allowed just one hit in an effective fifth-inning appearance.

Shortstop Madyson Brown (FR/Valley, AL) led off Point's half of the second inning with her first collegiate home run over the left-centerfield fence, and centerfielder Amber Anderson made the score 2-0 with an RBI single to right, and second baseman Tomi Kate O'Neal (SR/Birmingham, AL) singled up the middle to drive in the Skyhawks' third run.  With runners on first and third bases, third baseman Lacy Striblin powered her second home run of the season, a three-run blast to deep centerfield, and Point led 6-0.

Point gained a 10-0 advantage with four runs on three hits, a walk, and a Clark Atlanta error in the bottom of the third inning.  With runners on first and second base and one out, right fielder Mikayla Owen slammed her second home run of the season over the left-field fence, and Striblin drove in the final run with a sacrifice fly ball to left-center.

Striblin went 1-for-2 with four RBI in game two and had three hits in six at-bats with six RBI and two runs scored in the doubleheader.  O'Neal went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored, and Anderson went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.  Pendley was 1-for-1 with a walk in game two and went 3-for 4 with three runs scored in the twinbill.  Owen also went 1-for-1 with a walk, three RBI and two runs scored in game two, and went 3-for-4 with five RBI in the two games.
