BIRMINGHAM, Al. – Point University (1-2) was defeated by Birmingham Southern College (1-0), 13-6, in Saturday, Feb. 11 women's lacrosse action in Birmingham, Alabama.  


Five Skyhawks scored during the match with midfielder Alexa Coronado (JR/Jacksonville, FL) leading the way with two goals, three shots, a team-high five ground balls, and another team-high four caused turnovers.  Attacker Grace Beardsley (JR/Peachtree City, GA) did not score in the match, but led the team with three assists and picked up three ground balls.  Attacker Cathy Slusher (JR/St. Augustine, FL), attacker Ta'Mara Moore (JR/Birmingham, AL), midfielder Kristen Owens (JR/Auburn, AL), and midfielder Alexandra Millican (FR/Jacksonville, FL) all contributed one goal each.  Defender A'Miracle Winters (FR/Carrollton, GA) collected four ground balls and caused three turnovers.


Four different players scored a goal during the match for BSC, led by midfielder Natalie Daniel who finished with five goals, six shots, one ground ball, and one forced turnover.


NEXT MATCHES:  Coached by Bryan Stanley, Point University hosts its first two home matches of the season -- Tuesday, Feb. 14, against the University of Montevallo (Ala.) in River Bowl Stadium in West Point, Ga., at 5 p.m., and Saturday, Feb. 18, at 4 p.m., against SCAD-Savannah, which ranks number two in the NAIA Top 25 Coaches' Preseason poll issued on Jan. 31.
