MT. BERRY, Ga. – The Point University women's swimming team totaled 44 points and finished fourth among five schools at the at the 2017 Berry College Vikings Swimming Invitational, Jan. 20-21, in Mt. Berry, Georgia.

 

Birmingham Southern College (Ala.) won the women's team championship with 727.5 points, and Converse College (S.C.) placed second with 630.  Host Berry College placed third with 546.5, Point placed fourth with 44, and LaGrange College (Ga.) tallied 3 points.

 

Megan Manning (SO/Deland, FL), Falen Kizunga (SO/Villa Rica, GA), Katie Johnson (FR/Hebron, KY), and Courteney Darrow (JR/Newnan, GA) combined for a tenth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 2:10.57.  Darrow, Manning, Johnson, and Kizunga combined later for an eighth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:22.86.

 

Darrow placed tenth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:08.72, her second-best time of the season, and also placed 11th in the 1650-yard freestyle in 21:36.73, her first attempt in that distance this season, and 16th in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 29:41 seconds.

 

Manning also placed eighth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:08.98, 11th in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:00.37, her second-best time of the season, and 14th in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 27.70.

 

Johnson also placed ninth in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:49.24 and 22nd in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 30.53 seconds.  Kizunga placed 23rd in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 40.82 seconds.
