WEST POINT, Ga. – Point University (2-17; 1-9 AAC) trailed by 17 points three times in the first half and by as many as 27 points late in the second half of its 84-60 loss to third-place Montreat College (12-3; 6-3 AAC), in Wednesday, Jan. 11 Appalachian Athletics Conference men's basketball action in West Point Park Gym..

 

The Cavaliers outscored the Skyhawks 47-30 in the first half and led by as many as 17 points during the half.  Montreat maintained its momentum in the second half and outscored Point 47-30 again in the half on its way to a win over the Skyhawks, 84-60.

 

Guard Makhai Eastmond (FR/Marietta, GA) finished the contest with a game-high 22 points with 16 coming in the second half, and also added four assists and two steals.  Guard Joshua Tolbert (SR/Mobile, AL) finished with 11 point, made 3-of-7 three-pointers, rebounded the ball four times, stole the ball once, assisted his teammates one time, and blocked one shot.  Forward Hakeem Winters (SO/Cartersville, GA) scored eight points, pulled down six rebounds, blocked one shot, and stole the ball one time.   

 

Forward Jeron Hemphill secured a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.  Guard Davis Caldwell and forward David Everage both finished in double-digit points with 15 and 10, respectively.

 

Point made 20-of-65 field goals in the game (.308), 9-of-33 three-pointers (.273) and 11-of-15 free throws (.733) and committed 18 turnovers and stole the ball from Montreat five times.  Montreat made 34-of-76 shots (.447), 8-of-24 three-pointers (.333), 8-of-12 free throws (.667), out-rebounded the Skyhawks, 52-39, and committed 12 turnovers and stole the ball eight times.
